Targets
This project, starting from the paradigm of the “smart city“, aimed to build and test an experimental model of replicable development of heritage-historical, cultural and tourism offer based on the Web and “mobile technology“.
The project SMART HERITAGE starts from two different needs expressed on the portal Living Labs by theMunicipality of Specchia and by the -Euromediterranean Cultural Heritage Agency of Lecce, and therefore the model, was tested in two different contexts.
In the town of Specchia the project allowed the creation, of a “smart city“ with a wi-fi network infrastructure, providing multimedia services to visitors and citizens through NFC (Near Field Communication) smartphones and QR code, enabling users to connect physical world with the virtual one.
SMART HERITAGE, however, also comes from the needs expressed on Living Labs portal byEuromediterranean Cultural Heritage Agency to enhance, preserve and make accessible, through the use of ITC tools the great cultural and historical heritage preserved in the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist of Lecce.
In fact, thanks to Smart Heritage it was created and tested an integrated ICT system, aimed at enhancing and digital use of the precious cultural heritage of books and archives kept in the Monastery, implementing it in innovative ways to use and interactive Web “mobile“, through the use the latest ICT for cultural heritage, thus opening to a target of absolutely versatile user in each category of interest and offering the opportunity to enjoy and admire some of the most valuable historical treasures of which the Benedictines depositories and careful keepers for centuries.
