Institute for the History and Archaeology of Magna Graecia The Institute for the History and Archaeology of Ancient Greece aims to promote, through archaeological and archival research, studies on the history of civilization 'of Ancient Greece in all its aspects, from the precolonial age' to Byzantine age, both in classical as in the indigenous forms;
organizing conferences and study meetings on issues relating to the Magna Graecia;
oversee the publication of essays and original research, critical editions of ancient texts, no more 'reprints classical works, of illustrations of monuments and reports of excavations, of repertoires and critical bibliographies, and generally of any work that contributes to scientific knowledge of Ancient Greece;
establish a specialized library and a research center, which meet the scientific needs of the Institute;
take other scientific or educational initiatives that the governing body of the Institute believes, justifiably, necessary or useful for the purpose 'of the Institute.
